YouTube captions or AI transcription: which do you need?
Choose the right way to turn a YouTube video into text, then search, copy and download a useful transcript with Anthiago.

Start with the video you want to use. If it already has captions, extracting that text is the quickest route to notes you can work with. When captions are missing, Premium AI transcription creates text from the audio.

Extract captions without an account
- Open your YouTube video and copy its link from Share.
- Open the YouTube transcript tool and paste the link into the video field.
- Choose the requested transcript language, then click Transcribe. The page language and transcript language are separate settings.
- Read the result. Use Copy transcript to keep it in your clipboard or download TXT or PDF.
Caption extraction reuses existing text. It does not correct every word or create a new transcript from the sound. The available text and languages depend on the video.
Use AI when the video has no captions
Premium lets Anthiago process the audio instead. This is useful for recordings, interviews and videos where no subtitle track is available. It also gives you unlimited transcription, no ads and priority in the processing queue.
Sign in to your Premium account and submit the video. For your own recording, use the audio recording or file upload controls. Follow the progress shown by the tool; audio processing may take longer than extracting existing captions.
A private, unavailable or restricted video can still prevent access to its audio. Check the link and availability if a request fails. Audio quality, overlapping speech and unfamiliar names can also affect the text; review quotations with their source.
Turn a transcript into notes you can use
The example below is demonstration text, not a transcript of a real video:

- Search for goal inside the result to find the relevant segment. This works on a phone as well as a computer.
- Enable paragraph mode for separate passages. Open Reading options to show timestamps or audio notes.
- Copy or download the full transcript. Searching filters what you see, while copying and exporting retain the complete text.
- Keep timestamps when you need to return to the source. Where video links are available, enable clickable timestamps to open the relevant moment.
Choose a format for your next step
TXT is useful for editing in another application or pasting into your notes. PDF is convenient for reading and sharing a document. Choose either format from the buttons above your transcript.
